  • Post Freeze Information

The association is monitoring all landscape damage that occurred as a result of the recent freeze. Plants, trees, and turf are being assessed; however, replacements will not occur until Paradise Lawns is able to determine if the material is a total loss or not.

    Important Items of Note:

    1. Do not prune immediately after the freeze. Damaged leaves and stems may look unsightly but can protect inner tissues from further stress. Wait until new growth appears to assess the true damage.
    2. Assessing the damage over time requires patience. Some plants may look worse before they recover. True damage can take months to fully show.
    3. Moderate fertilizing can encourage new growth, but plants are still vulnerable to cold damage.

The temperatures seen in February were historically low for the area. While some of the plants, trees, or turf may not recover, allowing time for those that will is important.

Over the next few weeks, you will see shrubs being cut back to varying heights depending on where healthy growth remains. Because each plant and home is different, some properties may look more heavily reduced than others. Full recovery could take several months, and in some cases up to six months to a year. Landscaping may vary by property during this period, but we are actively managing each home accordingly.

Work orders submitted for replacements during this time of assessment will be placed on hold pending the outcome of cutbacks and spring regrowth. Material that has shown no signs of life or rebound will be replaced accordingly. The association appreciates everyone’s patience as the community moves through this recovery process.
